Marty Robbins - Jeannie And Johnnie Lyrics
JEANNIE AND JOHNNYJeannie and Johnny both grew up togetherPlaymates each hour of the dayThey both vowed that they would be sweethearts foreverThen one day Jeannie moved away (away, away)Johnny was lonely, loved Jeannie onlyJeannie was sad and so blueTheir folk said, forget it, but Jeannie and JohnnyKnew that no other would doThey wrote to each other and as they grew olderTheir love, much stronger, had grownThen one day a letter from Jeannie to JohnnyCame back to her, address unknownJohnny was lonely, loved Jeannie onlyJeannie was sad and so blueWhere Johnny had gone to she knew not the answerBut she knew she'd wait and be trueThe next day poor Jeannie just couldn't stop cryin'Though tears wouldn't come anymoreHer world seemed so empty that she felt like dyin'Then she heard a knock on her doorAnd there stood her Johnny, her true lovin' JohnnyHe'd come to make wedding plansHe said, oh, I love you, my Jeannie, I love youThen he placed a ring on her handHe placed a ring on her hand
