John Mcdermott - Kathleen Lyrics
Kathleen : to pan and terryBlown like a leaf on a warm summer breezeA vision approached me as cool as you pleaseWith her strawberry hair and a wink in her eyeTo say I was smitten would not be a lieGathering courage I started to speakTo ask of her name but my heart felt too weakLike Id gone to heaven before I had diedI mumbled the question she calmly replied kathleenWell I remember my first motorbikeWith her riding pillion Id not heard the likeOf her giggles and squeels as we leaned left and rightAnd feeling her arms round my chest holding tightWhilrwind romances were never my speedBut this one took off like a runaway steedWhen she said she was having the time of her lifeI knew then this vision would soon be my wife, kathleenOh kathleen the memories youve left meTheyll be with me through all of my daysThinking theres safety in numbers no doubtAcounts for the fact that the wholw town turned outTo behold how serenely she walked down the aisleBut trembled and blushed as I kissed her sweet smilePicnics on beaches and punts on the lakeLuck seemed to serve us a slice of lifes cakeThat was more than enought to sustain us through yearsWhen laughter would somehow give way to some tears kathleenOh kathleen the memories youve left meTheyll be with me through all of my daysThen at the ball she looked ever so sweetHeavy with child but still light on her feetEvery head turned our way as we whirled oer the floorAnd I love her more than Id loved her before(instrumental)Two caring children siobhan and marieA grand little grandchild to bounce on my kneeTheyre a fine testimonial to all that was rightIn keeping our candle of love burning bright, kathleenNow as my life nears its own eventideIts almost as though she were here by my sideSuch a presence an aura so perfectly madeMy beautiful vision that never will fade kathleen
