Gordon Lightfoot - Welcome To Try Lyrics
I have been down in the valley of tearsI have stood on the highest peakFor the best part of a weekBattered and bruised I had pulled myself throughEvery seen I would never repeatI have hung out with the beasts of the fieldAnd with them Ive spent many long nightsGot in some awful bad fightsI came unstuck, I was down on my luckAnd Im still gettin over the bitesSounds of my own heart breaking, not to mention my mindNothing can hurt me, a small voice said into a mike, take a hikeNo one will lead me astray anymoreYou are welcome to try if you likeWelcome to try if you likeI had been down in the valley so longI had almost run out of respectGot in right up to my neckBattered but wise to the truth and the liesThat no layman would ever acceptReaching for all of the good things in lifeCan provide some suprises I guessIt may be the way we are dressedThese threads that you see mean so little to meThey dont count when they put us to restLate about dusk I would start to feelOne more day had been lostNothing Id say ever seemed to conveyHow I felt with that I have dealtAll of my children are healthy and saneThey may say anything that they likeSay anything that they likeSitting alone in the blue ridge saloonIs no place for an angel to beLadies make faces at meBattered but clean I had pulled my machineOff the road, I was too tired to seeWearing a smile like the rim of a cupI will get down to my final pointThere is no one left to annointAnd the sowing of seed was it good, yes indeedIt thrills me but only to a pointUse your imagination, try every trick in the bookMy mother said with the life that I led Id be brokeHoly smokeAll of my children are healthy and wiseThey may say anything that they likeIf they want ta preach and are not within reachThey may say anything that they likeSay anything that they like
