Cowboy Junkies - Black Eyed Man Lyrics
Black eyed man he took the blameFor the poisoning of the wellThey found this shoes by the pulleyThey found his fingerprints all over the pailBlack eyed man Im warning youThe people around hereWill not be fooled by a simple line or twoYes your honour I do solemnly swearThat I saw him late last night,Dancing barefoot, bathed in lightAnd reaching for every star in sightYes I did go to him,But completely against my willAnd yes he did things to meThings of which I dream of stillBlack eyed man Im warning youWhat I say is what youll doTo hell with love and truthI always meant to say Im sorryFor all the things I said and didsorry, I feel better now, do you?But you promised me the skyAnd fell short a star or twoWhat else did you expect me to do?Black eyed man he took the blameFor the poisoning of the wellThey found his shoes by the pulleyThey found his fingerprints all over the pailWith a noose around his neck,Cicadas trilling everywhere,He says to the people gathered round him,it aint the water thats not right around hereBlack eyed man Im thirsty dearBe a love and bring some water hereDrawn fresh from the well
