Bare***** Ladies - The Old Apartment Lyrics
Words & music by steven page & ed robertsonBroke into the old apartmentThis is where we used to liveBroken glass, broke and hungryBroken hearts and broken bonesThis is where we used to liveWhy did you paint the walls? Why did you clean the floor? Why did you plaster over the hole I punched in the door? This is where we used to liveWhy did you keep the mousetrap? Why did you keep the dishrack? These things used to be mineI guess they still are, I want them backBroke into the old apartmentForty-two stairs from the streetCrooked landing, crooked landlordNarrow laneway filled with crooks. This is where we used to live. Why did they pave the lawn? Why did they change the locks? Why did I have to break it, I only came here to talkThis is where we used to liveHow is the neighbor downstairs? How is her temper this year?I turned up your tv and stomped on the floor just for funI know we dont live here anymoreWe bought an old house on the danforthShe loves me and her body keeps me warmIm happy hereBut this is where we used to liveBroke into the old apartmentTore the phone out of the wallOnly memories, fading memoriesBlending into dull tableauxI want them backI want them back
